The quickest way to choose: if your customers call within minutes of searching, start with the map pack. If they compare options for weeks, start with pages and content. Technical SEO sits underneath both, and AI search visibility is a layer you add once the basics are honest and consistent.
Below is each service, who it suits, and the sign that tells you it should go first.
-
Map pack and Google Business Profile SEO
Show up in the three map results for the BC towns your crews actually drive to.
-
Service-area and location pages
One genuinely useful page per real market, written so it never reads like a doorway page.
-
Technical SEO audits and fixes
Find and fix the crawl, speed and indexing problems that quietly hold rankings down.
-
Content SEO and topical authority
Answer the questions BC customers type before they call, one well-planned article at a time.
-
AI search visibility
Give AI answer engines clear, consistent facts about your business so they can cite it.
Map pack and Google Business Profile SEO
This is the work on your Google Business Profile and the local signals around it, aimed at the three map results that appear above ordinary listings. For urgent trades it is usually where the calls are.
It suits plumbers, electricians, drain and sewer firms, locksmiths, garage-door companies, appliance repair and similar businesses where the customer has a problem now. The sign it should come first: you rank on page one for some searches but rarely appear in the map, or your profile shows the wrong hours, categories or service area. Full detail on the map pack page.
Service-area and location pages
These are pages on your own website for each real market you serve: one for Kamloops, one for Vernon, one for North Vancouver, each written for that place. They give Google a reason to show you outside the town where your shop sits.
It suits businesses that drive to several towns or municipalities, especially in the Fraser Valley, the Okanagan and on Vancouver Island, where towns are close enough to serve but far enough to be separate searches. The sign it should come first: most of your work is outside your home town, but your website only mentions one place. Read the service-area pages page, including how we avoid doorway pages.
Technical SEO audits and fixes
Technical SEO is the plumbing of a website: whether Google can crawl it, index it, load it quickly on a phone and understand what each page is about. Nothing else works well if this is broken.
Every client gets a technical check at the start. It becomes the lead service when the site is slow, recently migrated, built on a page builder that bloats code, or shows pages missing from Google. The sign: Search Console reports many "crawled, not indexed" or "duplicate" pages, or traffic dropped after a redesign. See technical SEO.
Content SEO and topical authority
Content SEO means publishing useful answers to the questions customers ask before they hire: costs, timelines, permits, materials, what to check. Over time this builds topical authority, so Google trusts the whole site on the subject.
It suits higher-ticket and planned work: renovations, roofing replacements, landscaping, windows and doors, foundations, solar and heat-pump installers. The sign it should come first: you get calls from the map, but few people find you while they are still researching. Details on content SEO.
AI search visibility
AI answer tools such as Google's AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity now answer some local questions directly. Visibility there depends on clear, consistent facts about your business across the web, and pages that state answers plainly.
This is rarely the first service. It is the layer that makes the other four count twice. The sign you need it: customers mention they "asked an AI" for recommendations, or your business details differ between your site, your profile and directories. Read AI search visibility.
A simple decision table
| Your situation | Start with | Add next |
|---|---|---|
| Urgent trade, one main town | Map pack | Technical check, then content |
| Urgent trade, five or more towns | Map pack | Service-area pages |
| Planned, high-ticket work | Content | Service-area pages |
| Site recently rebuilt and traffic fell | Technical SEO | Whatever the audit shows |
| Strong rankings, little growth | Content | AI search visibility |
Plans and how they map to these services are on the pricing page. If you are unsure which row describes you, the contact page explains what to send us so we can tell you in one reply. You can also read our results to see the same order of work applied in our HVAC client projects.
What none of the services include
We don't install, repair or service anything; BCSEO.ca is a marketing and consulting service, not a contractor. We also don't sell link packages, fake reviews, or bulk-generated town pages. If a past provider did any of those for you, tell us early: cleaning them up becomes part of the plan.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to buy all five services?
No. Most clients start with one or two. An emergency trade usually starts with the map pack; a renovation firm usually starts with pages and content. The plan says which and why.
Which service is fastest?
Google Business Profile work tends to move first because Google re-reads profiles often. Technical fixes can also show quickly if something was blocking pages. Content is the slowest and the longest-lasting.
Do you run Google Ads too?
Not on this site. BCSEO.ca is SEO only. If you need paid search alongside it, our sister service BCAgency.ca covers ads, websites and reviews for BC businesses.
Will you rebuild my website?
Usually not. We fix and add to the site you have. If the platform genuinely can't be fixed, we tell you in writing and explain what a rebuild would need to include for SEO.
