Frequently asked questions

Questions BC owners ask before hiring us for SEO

These are the questions BC business owners actually ask on a first call: about money, contracts, timing, ownership and what happens if it doesn't work.

These answers cover what BC owners ask most often on a first call. If your question isn't here, call, text or email; the contact page explains what to include so we can answer in one reply. For a broader introduction to SEO, our guides are free and written for owners rather than marketers.

Frequently asked questions

How much does SEO cost with BCSEO.ca?

Plans run from $1,999 a month on month-to-month terms, or $1,499 a month with annual billing, with 5% GST added for BC clients. The pricing page shows all three plans and a break-even table you can fill in with your own numbers.

Do I have to sign a long contract?

No. Every plan runs month to month, and 30 days' notice ends it. Choosing annual billing is optional; it just brings the monthly rate down.

How long until I see results?

Profile fixes can show within weeks. New pages and content usually take three to six months, and longer in crowded Lower Mainland categories. Smaller Interior and northern towns often move faster.

We tried an SEO agency before and it didn't work. Why would this be different?

We hear this often. Usually the old work targeted rankings nobody searched for, or used shortcuts that later backfired. We start by reviewing what was done, keep what helped, undo what hurt, and report on calls rather than vanity rankings.

Who owns my website, Google Business Profile and data?

You do. Your profile, Search Console, analytics and website stay in your name. We work through user access you grant and can remove at any time.

Will you promise me first-page rankings?

No, and be cautious of anyone who says they can. Google controls its results. We commit to a clear plan, honest reporting and quality work.

What do your monthly reports include?

A short plain-language summary: work completed, calls and website clicks from search, changes in visibility, what's planned next and anything we need from you.

Do you work with businesses outside the Lower Mainland?

Yes, across all of BC, including Vancouver Island, the Okanagan, the Kootenays, Kamloops and the Cariboo, and the North. Each region has its own page explaining how search works there.

Are you a contractor?

No. BCSEO.ca is a marketing and business consulting service. Trade work of any kind, from installs to repairs, sits outside what we do, so we are never a rival bidder on your jobs.

Do you buy backlinks?

No. Bought links break Google's spam policies and can harm a site. We earn mentions through genuine local relationships, directories that matter and content worth citing.

Can you write in languages other than English?

We can plan and manage pages in other languages where your team can serve customers in them, such as Punjabi, Cantonese or Mandarin in parts of the Lower Mainland, using professional translators rather than machine output alone.

What do you need from me?

About an hour at the start and a short check-in each month. We'll ask for job photos, details on the towns you serve and quick reviews of drafts.

Money and contracts

The short version: month-to-month plans, no long-term contract, 30 days' notice to cancel, prices in Canadian dollars plus 5% GST. Plans start at $1,999 a month, or $1,499 a month billed annually. The pricing page shows every plan and walks through the maths of whether SEO will pay for a business like yours.

Before any paid plan, eligible trades businesses can have a free 30-minute consultation. We use it to look at your current visibility and tell you honestly whether a plan makes sense now.

Timing and expectations

SEO is slower than ads and lasts longer. Expect early movement from Google Business Profile work within weeks, and steadier gains from pages and content after three to six months. In smaller BC towns, where fewer businesses compete, results often come sooner; in Vancouver, Burnaby or Surrey, they take patience.

We won't promise rankings or lead counts. Anyone who does is either guessing or planning shortcuts that put your site at risk. What we will do is tell you, before we start, which tasks are quick wins and which are long-term, and show you the numbers each month.

Ownership and access

Everything stays yours: website, domain, Google Business Profile, Search Console, analytics, content and photos. We ask for user-level access rather than your passwords, so you can remove us in seconds. If you leave, there's nothing to hand back, because nothing was ever in our name.

If a previous provider still controls your profile or analytics, recovering them is often the first task in our map pack SEO work.

Working with us after a bad experience

Many owners come to us after an agency that sent ranking reports for terms nobody searched, bought cheap links, or published dozens of near-identical town pages. Our first step is an honest review of what was done. We keep what works, clean up what's risky, and explain each decision. Our guide to hiring an SEO provider lists the warning signs, whether you hire us or anyone else.

Reporting and how we judge success

Each monthly report fits on a page or two. It lists the work completed, shows calls, website clicks and direction requests from your Google Business Profile, and pulls clicks and impressions from your own Search Console account. Rankings appear as a short note, because a ranking checked from one location says little about what a customer in another town sees.

The question we try to answer every month is simple: are more of the right people finding you and getting in touch? If the answer stays flat for three months in a row, we say so, explain what we think is wrong and propose a change. You never have to dig for bad news.

Regions and languages

We work with businesses in every part of BC, and the plan changes with the region. A Lower Mainland firm usually needs more content and sometimes pages in a second language. A business in the Kootenays or the North usually needs a complete profile, steady reviews and a handful of honest town pages. Our areas page explains the differences, with a page for each region.
